ATV approval documents: what DOBO can discuss, and what your market must confirm

Start with the exact model, variant, configuration, market and intended use.

The first question is not simply “Is this ATV road legal?” It is: which exact model, variant, version and equipment will be supplied, in which country, for which intended use? Type-approval documents and local registration decisions are related, but not interchangeable.

DOBO can review the requesting company, intended market, model and use case, then discuss the relevant approval reference and availability of detailed material such as a Certificate of Conformity for the applicable vehicle. Detailed documents are shared after manual review, not as anonymous public downloads. Availability must be confirmed for the exact order.

EU CoC and provisional GB approval

The VCA letter is a provisional GB type-approval communication, not an individual vehicle CoC. Its attachment lists the EU and provisional GB approval numbers. The provisional approval depends on a valid corresponding EU approval, notice to VCA of relevant changes and conformity arrangements. Match the vehicle to the approval scope and confirm current status before making a registration claim.

For the provisional GB scheme, VCA explains that the p approval number need not be printed on the vehicle or its CoC. UK registration guidance says a CoC can prove provisional GB approval for a new tractor. This does not guarantee registration of every configuration; the issued CoC must match the delivered VIN, make and configuration, and the importer should confirm the applicable DVLA process.

What remains a local-market decision?

Your importer, dealer or local specialist must still confirm registration, licensing and use rules, tax and insurance implications, modifications, language requirements, and any local documentation or equipment obligations. Changing branding or equipment does not automatically preserve an approval scope.

A useful documentation request identifies the country, model, proposed configuration, intended use, sales channel, estimated quantity and specific registration question. DOBO can then respond to the right vehicle rather than making a broad claim about an entire model family.
